| NOTES TO THE FOLLOW 1. A Follow's contribution to navigation is to follow the Lead. 2. If you happen to see a problem coming toward the both of you and your lead doesn't see it, give an alert. 3. A Follow who distracts their Lead from navigating by not following or talking increases their chance of non-connection with the Lead and floor mishaps. NOTES TO THE LEAD 1. Navigating means keeping you and your Follow safe from other dancers (collisions, flying feet, etc.). 2. A Lead who can navigate keeps their Followers RELAXED. A relaxed follow will follow just about anything you can lead. 3. Skills for navigation include...scanning the floor, stopping, rocking, pausing, turning, walking, and drafting. 4. Drafting is when you place you and your partner behind another couple on the edge of the floor and simply follow them around through the dance. By being on the edge of the floor it elimates 1 side you have to keep track of (outside). |
