YOU CAN DANCE STUDIO
Tango Travel Journals Buenos Aires - Part IV
Wed Nov 12 ciao bellas, our time is nearing its end. this place has so many layers, it is mind boggling. my favorite dance i have found so far here is the one that happens thousands of time everyday on every street corner. the dancers include pedestrians, bicyclists, motorcyclists, cars, taxis, and trucks. the unspoken language of traffic here says that everyone acts as if they are going to hurtle themselves through the intersection at the same time but at just the last moment or just the right moment someone gives way and what looks like a sure disaster is avoided. i never see a look of fear on these dancers faces, that amazes me. as our visit has lengenthened we have had more opportunities to meet and hear peopleīs stories here. i echo Markīs confusion about the U.S. i have heard anger towards us and reverent appreciation as a place where we have the option of choice. I can see and feel both perceptions. it reminds me of tango. you can take a class in the morning and be told only dance with your legs bent, thatīs the correct way to do tango. you can take a class in the evening and be told only dance with your legs straight, thatīs the correct way to do tango. i can understand both methods and i have to make the choice of when to apply either style depending on the situatin and my partner. with knowledge i can make a choice. more later, ev Fri Nov 14 hello friends, this is my last transmission from bsas. we have to be out of our rooms by 10:00 am. so we will be hanging around the city until we take a taxi to the aeroport at 6 pm tonight. not sure of the schedule today so thought i would take a second to write. so, i am already packed and on my way to some neighborhood cafe for cafe con leche y media lunas. those media lunas are tiny croissants, tasty. walked out of the tango house to see a man carrying half a butchered cow over his shoulder into the meat shop across the street. the beef here has been incredible. tastes like my uncleīs beef. he raised cattle on a ranch in okalahoma, we grew up eating that meat, tasted clean and clear like the meat here. then i see the dog who lives at the business a few doors down the street is standing in front of the closed little neighborhood market. his is at full attention, nose and body pointed straight into the store like he expects someone to let him in. this is the first time i have seen the dog on the street by himself. he is a visual treat. a large black curious dog that has had all the hair shaved from his body except his bushy head and the tip of his tail. not a poodle, but looking like a poodle wanna be on a bad day. also i see many mothers walking tiny children on the sidewalks. i am assuming they are going to school. Last night went to our last milonga at Confiteria Ideal. i like that place, history there. there was live music and it was fabulous. a small 5 piece orchestra and singers. just wonderful. saw a bit of tango drama.
